CINVESTAV, the largest Research Organization of Mexico, visits FORTH, in the presence of Mexico’s Ambassador in Greece

With the aim of establishing tighter scientific cooperation between Greece and Mexico, the Ambassador of Mexico in Greece, Mr. Alejandro García Moreno and the Head of Economic-Commercial and International Cooperation Affairs of the Embassy, Ms. Laura Olivia Mora Barreto, as well as, the General Manager Dr. Alberto Sánchez Hernández, the Director of Planning Dr. Martha Espinosa, and members of the CINVESTAV research organization visited the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH), on Tuesday, 5th of March.

The Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico CINVESTAV consists of 28 academic departments organized into 9 units, in different states of Mexico. The fundamental objectives pursued by Cinvestav are: to prepare specialized researchers and teachers who promote the constant improvement of teaching and generate the conditions for carrying out original research in various scientific and technological areas that allow raising living standards and promote the development of the country. In terms of internationalization, Cinvestav seeks to strengthen cooperation with Universities and technological and Innovation centers such as FORTH, which is the largest Research Center in Greece, comprising 10 Research Institutes that conduct research in strategic areas of significant scientific, social and economic interest and high-added value.

During the visit, FORTH’s President, Prof. Nektarios Tavernarakis, Directors and representatives of its Institutes presented the activities of the Foundation, followed by the presentation of the research organization CINVESTAV by its Director Dr. Alberto Sánchez Hernández. The prospect of entering into cooperation in research and educational programs was thoroughly discussed.

The visitors were guided to the Foundation's laboratories and infrastructures, discussed with researchers and expressed their enthusiasm for the research achievements and infrastructures of FORTH.
