A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Thursday 19/10/2023, by Prof. Nektarios Tavernarakis, President of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH), and Prof. Spyridon Doukakis, President of the Institute of Educational Policy (IEP), in the presence of the Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and of Sports Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis, and of the Deputy Minister of Development Mr. Maximos Senetakis, at the headquarters of FORTH, in Heraklion, Crete.

The goal of this MoU is the scientific cooperation of FORTH and IEP in matters of common scientific and research interest, based on the existing expertise and know-how of the two institutions. Also, a common objective is the exchange of views on policy-making in the areas of education and research, with the aim of upgrading and gradually transitioning primary and secondary education in Greece towards digital transformation, in the context of the educational policy planning of IEP and of the national strategy of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports.

Earlier on that day, FORTH and IEP held a pilot training seminar for teachers, on the use of Interactive Systems, with about 20 participants, under the coordination of Prof. Spyridon Doukakis, President of IEP, Dr. Maria Kalathaki, Member of the Board of IEP, and Dr. Kathy Kikis-Papadakis, Research Director at the Institute of Applied and Computational Mathematics of FORTH. The seminar was followed by guided tours of FORTH’s laboratories, as well as, presentations by researchers.
