A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on Monday, September 25^th, 2023, by the Director of the Institute of Computer Science and Vice-President of the Foundation for Research and Technology-hellas (FORTH-ICS), Prof. Dimitris Plexousakis, and Prof. ZHAO Zhiyun, General Director of the Institute of Scientific & Technical Information (ISTIC), which falls under the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, at the headquarters of FORTH, in Heraklion.

Founded in October 1956, ISTIC is a science and technology information research institute operating at a national level. In particular, the Artificial Intelligence Center of ISTIC acts as the supporting unit for the Next Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Research Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The primary objective of this MoU is to explore the possibilities of developing research cooperation between the two Institutions, in order to promote excellence in research, in the field of artificial intelligence.

On top of that, the interaction and exchange of researchers in the field of artificial intelligence between China and Greece will be supported, as well as, their participation in conferences, forums, and seminars.
