Dr. John Vontas, Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB) of FORTH and Professor of the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA), along with Dr. Christos Delidakis, Principal Investigator at IMBB and Professor at the University of Crete, were elected as new members of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO).

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed today, Tuesday, July 9th 2024, by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas, Prof. Nektarios Tavernarakis and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Pharmaceutical Association of Heraklion, Mr. Aristotle Skountakis, aiming at the cooperation of the two Organizations/Institutions, for the development of joint scientific activities.

PRAXI Network, National Contact Point (NCP) of the European Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe, organized an open event on Tuesday, July, 2nd, 2024, on the premises of the Science and Technology Park of Epirus, entitled: "EIC Accelerator: Funding opportunities, procedures and support".

The 1^st Summer School of the TWINN2SET project will be held from 1 to 5 July 2024. The Summer School is dedicated to Energy Transition and includes a series of lectures, workshops and lab tours. The event is organized by the Institute of Geoenergy/FORTH in collaboration with the Technical University of Crete within the framework of the EU-funded project TWINN2SET (Twinning to Sustainable Energy Transition).

The Institute for Mediterranean Studies of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (IMS-FORTH) and the Directorate of Modern Cultural and Intangible Cultural Heritage (Ministry of Culture) invite you to the opening of the travelling exhibition "from counter stern to stem: sailing ships of the 18th and 19th centuries".

PRAXI Network, in collaboration with the European Digital Innovation Hub for Smart Health (smartHEALTH), the Innovation Greece, and Enterprise Greece, with the support of the Enterprise Europe Network Hellas, organized an Investors Networking Event, on Thursday, June 20, at the Royal Olympic Hotel, which took place in the framework of the "Invest to Innovate: Exploring Tomorrow's Opportunities" events.

The Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH) held two open events: on Friday June 14^th, at its headquarters in Heraklion, and on Saturday, June 15^th 2024, at the TUC Campus in Chania, for the presentation of its new building facilities in Heraklion, Rethymno and Chania. This significant development project, which is co-financed by the Recovery and Resilience Fund and the European Investment Bank through the National Public Investment Program, is expected to play a decisive role in the development of FORTH, as well as, contribute to research and academic education in the Region of Crete.

Research at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB) of FORTH and at the University of Cologne, published in the premier international science periodical Cell Reports, reveals that germline reproductive signals impact the ability of somatic tissues to induce the mitochondrial unfolded protein response (UPR^mt).
