The State, the research and academic community, the patients’ associations and the citizens joined forces against neurodegenerative diseases, at the National Precision Medicine Network for Neurodegenerative Diseases (EDIAN) event.

The actions taken for citizen services will be presented to the general public, for the very first time, by the National Precision Medicine Network for Neurodegenerative Diseases (EDIAN).

A Cooperation Agreement between the University of Cyprus and FORTH was signed on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, by Prof. Ioannis Giapintzakis, Vice Rector for International Relations, Finance and Administration of the University of Cyprus, and the President of FORTH, Professor Nektarios Tavernarakis.

As announced today in Brussels, Nektarios Tavernarakis, Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), and Professor at the Medical School of the University of Crete, was unanimously elected Chair of the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT).

A team of scientists from the University of Minnesota Medical School, University of Texas Health San Antonio, and the Biomedical Research Institute of FORTH, found that the disruption of a circadian clock gene may be involved in the development of autism spectrum disorder.

K. Makris, Assistant Professor of the Department of Physics of the University of Crete and Associate Faculty Member of the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL) of FORTH, was awarded a “Consolidator Grant” by the ERC.

The 2022 recipient of the FORTH/ICE-HT “Stratis Sotirchos Lectureship Award” is Professor Fengqi You, Smith School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Cornell University, USA.

Professor Emeritus in Medical Molecular Genetics, School of Medicine, University of Patras and Affiliated Scientist of the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences, Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas Nicholas Moschonas, was appointed Member of the National Commission for Bioethics and Technoethics.

On Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 9 a.m. will be held the webinar on: "Traditional Arts in modern times".

Τhe medal ceremony will be held during the annual European Geosciences Union General Assembly, in Vienna Austria, May 23-27, 2022.
