The Institute for Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH), in collaboration with the Greek Research and Technology Network (GRNET S.A.) within the framework of the third phase of the Enabling Grids for E-sciencE (EGEE), funded by the European Union, is proud to invite you to a seminar entitled "Topics in Grid Technologies". The seminar will take place on Thursday, 30 October and Friday, 31 October 2008 at the Stelios Orphanoudakis seminar room, at 8:45a.m.

The seminar program includes the following:

a) Presentation of the european project (EGEE) and the greek project (Hellasgrid, funded by the Operational Program “Information Society”)
b) Practicing project submissions, resource management and application development on the Grid
c) Presentation of the Grid middleware architecture of the EGEE as well as the physical characteristics of the infrastructure
d) Presentation with advice and guidelines for the creation, installation and execution of applications on the Grid
e) Presentation with information for the application of parallel applications (MPI)

This seminar is of interest to members of the academic and research community with the aspiration to acquire some practical experience of the services offered by the EGEE today, in order to be able to fully take advantage of the benefits obtained by Grid infrastructure. The seminar will be conducted in Greek, whereas the transparencies in English.

For your participation to the seminar, you are required to complete a participation form. Participation is also for free.

The seminar includes an amount of time spent on hands-on sessions on the Grid. In order to participate, you must be carrying a laptop computer with wireless internet connectivity (WiFi 802.11b/g.) One laptop per two or three persons is adequate for keeping up with the seminar.
