Honorary Award of the European Acoustics Union to Prof. Michael Taroudakis, FORTH Collaborating Researcher

The collaborating researcher of the Institute of Applied and Computational Mathematics of FORTH, Michael Taroudakis, Professor at the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics of the University of Crete, was awarded the International Award "EAA award for contributions to the promotion of Acoustics in Europe" by the European Acoustics Association (EAA), www.euracoustics.org during the "FORUM ACUSTICUM 2023" convention, held in Turin, 11-15 of September, 2023. The prize is awarded, every three years, to a person or an institution that has contributed to the development of interest in acoustic science in Europe.

The European Acoustics Association is a non-profit organization, founded in 1992, comprising 34 scientific Acoustical Societies, with a total of 9,000 individual members across Europe.

Prof. Michael Taroudakis was honored with this significant award for his overall scientific activity and contribution to the management of both the EAA and the International Commission for Acoustics, which led, among others, to the establishment of the International Year of Sound 2020-2021, of which he was the coordinator.
