An event was held on Thursday, June 9^th at FORTH in order to recognize the significant support of the “Greece 2021” committee towards the Skinakas Observatory, the joint research infrastructure of the University of Crete and FORTH, during which the President of the Committee Mrs. Gianna Angelopoulou-Daskalaki was honored. More specifically, the Committee, after choosing among a large number of worthy proposals, approved a grant worth €520,000 to the Skinakas Observatory, for the purchase of a state-of-the-art optical telescope with a mirror diameter of 1.0m, twenty-seven years after the installation of the previous one.
