Inauguration of the new building
On Sunday, September 19th 2010, at 17.45 p.m., the inauguration of the new building of the Institute for Mediterranean Studies will take place. It will be named after the deceased President of the Foundation for Research and Technology, native from Rethymno, the late Stelios Orphanoudakis.
Public Lecture by Professor Adi Shamir (TURING AWARD 2002) in the framework of 2010 Onassis Foundation Science Lecture Series on Computer Science
On Wednesday 30 June, 8 p.m. at FORTH Amphitheater, Professor Adi Shamir (The Weizmann Institute of Science and winner of the Turing Award 2002) will give public lecture on "How Cryptosystems Are Really Broken" in the framework of 2010 Onassis Foundation Science Lecture Series on Computer Science.
The 2010 Onassis Foundation Science Lecture Series
Following the success and experience of the past decade, the 2010 Onassis Foundation Science Lecture Series will take place from 28 June to 4 July 2010 at FORTH premises in Heraklion. This years Lectures, organized by the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation and the Foundation for Research & Technology-Hellas are on Computer Science and will focus on Network and Information Security.
Advanced Multiphoton Confocal Microscopy facility established at IMBB/FORTH
The Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas, announces today the establishment of its advanced Multiphoton Confocal Microscopy Facility. This state-of-the-art facility is currently the only one in Greece and the first of its kind in Europe.

On Monday 22nd of March 2010, 18:00 hrs, at the FORTH Amphitheatre in Heraklion (Crete), Dr. Peter Freeman will give the 2nd lecture in the context of "Stelios Orphanoudakis" Distinguished Lecture series. This year, the Lecture is in the area of Computer Science, Information and Communications Technologies, and is entitled:
"The Interaction of Science and Society as Illustrated by the Internet"

The EU cyber security Agency; ENISA (European Network and Information Security Agency) and the Institute of Computer Science of the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (ICS-FORTH) organise their 2nd Summer School on Network and Information Security (NIS'09).
